"ECO CHIC- TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE SWEDISH FASHION" EXHIBITION IS IN ISTANBUL

 

İstanbul Moda Academy (İMA) is hosting the touring exhibition, “Eco Chic – Towards Sustainable Swedish Fashion” in collaboration with Swedish Institute and Consulate General of Sweden on 1-21 October2009. The exhibition which includes 16 design from 14 Swedish designer will bring the professionals from fashion and textile industry together for the special opening event at İMA on 1 October.

 

The exhibition, presenting environmentally friendly clothes form Swedish designers such as Julian Red, Filippa K., Dem Collective, was shown in several cities including Belgrade, Minsk, Kiev and Riga will continue to Berlin and New York after being shown in Istanbul.

 

Within the scope of the “Eco Chic” exhibition a seminar and two workshops will be organized. The title of the seminar is “Ecological Life and Fashion” and will take place at İMA on October 2, 2009.The speakers at the seminar are: Anna Maria Bernitz, the project manager of the “Eco Chic” exhibition; Annika Axelsson, one of the partners of Dem Collective and will talk about production of ecological designs; Marcus Bergman, one of the partners of Bergman’s and lecturer University College of Borås; Nina Baldwin, project coordinator at Centre for Sustainable Fashion, London College of Fashion; Rengin Akyüz, Managing Director of Ants Textile and Hüseyin Taş, textile representative of Turkey at Institute of Marketology and will talk about the certification process of ecological designs.

 

The workshops organized by a famous Swedish designer Rijkard Lindqvist and a Turkish designer, will take place at İMA on October 13 and 14, 2009. The designers will show how to produce a simple ecological design from used or organic fabric within an interactive environment.
